Geitøya - Atlanterhavsvegen - www.nasjonaleturistveger.no

Atlanterhavsvegen is a good example of how people and nature can interact successfully. The seven bridges that arch between the islets and skerries on the edge of the ocean not only present a magnificent view, they are also an outstanding feat of engineering. In 2005, Atlanterhavsvegen was awarded the distinction of being Norway's Architectural Monument of the Century, and is also known as the world's most beautiful car journey.

The ocean dominates the impression of this stretch, which runs through a landscape rich in coastal culture along the rough Hustadvika bay, a treacherous strait for seafarers through the centuries.

National Tourist Route Atlanterhavsvegen runs from Kårvåg to Bud, over a distance of 36 kilometres.

Geitøya

Geitøya.

On Geitøya island, the terrain offers plenty of opportunities for taking picturesque photos of the ensemble of bridges and the archipelago. From here, a boat service runs to the well-known fishing village of Håholmen. A trail leads to a viewing platform under the Geitøya bridge, often used by anglers.
