The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs uses Norwegian Scenic Routes as an element in their efforts to promote public opinion on Norway internationally.
The Norwegian Scenic Routes are included in the curriculum for the Ministry’s trainee programme and the information is presented through lectures at the Ministry, at foreign service missions, and in connection with various cultural programmes. The lectures present regional aims and business policy objectives for the Norwegian Scenic Routes, as well as the ambitions of the architecture policy and the characteristic architecture of individual projects.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration and the Foundation for Design and Architecture in Norway have developed the travelling exhibition “Detour – Architecture and design along 18 Norwegian Scenic Routes.” In the years 2007-2012 the exhibition was shown many places in Europe, on the east coast of the USA, in Asia, and at Expo 2010 in Shanghai with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organises its own press tours on Norwegian Scenic Routes for foreign journalists as well as for foreign correspondents stationed in Norway. National Tourist Routes are also represented in the Ministry’s internal information bank, “Norway stories”.
